Bullring is the West Midland’s premier retail destination and is owned by the Birmingham Alliance which includes Hammerson, Henderson and Future Fund. The centre is managed by Hammerson, one of Europe’s leading property investment and development companies, whose principal activities include the acquisition, development and management of commercial and retail properties. Bullring recognises the importance of taking a proactive, strategic approach to environmental management and, with Hammerson, strives to be at the forefront of this area of management within our sector.
We comply with all relevant legislation and other requirements to which Bullring subscribes, and strive to exceed legal and other requirements where possible. By conducting periodic internal and independent reviews of our progress, as well as through engagement with stakeholders, we aim to achieve continual improvement.
Our pursuit of excellence is facilitated by our Environmental Management System, which enables the targeting and public reporting of our environmental performance. Along with ensuring compliance in our daily operations, Hammerson set rigorous annual targets for Bullring to work toward and we monitor our performance focussing on the following key objectives:
- To substantially reduce our carbon footprint
- To maximise the efficiency of our use of natural resources
- To reduce waste and increase recycling
- To prevent pollution and contamination wherever possible
This policy will be made available to all, but in particular to all employees, advisors and contractors who have a key role to play if Bullring is to meet its environmental policy commitments and objectives. In support of this, we will provide employees, advisors and contractors with information on environmental procedures, a well as any appropriate training. The policy may be viewed on Bullring website, internal IT system, or in hardcopy in the Management Suite.
Responsibility for overall governance and implementation of this policy lies with Bullring senior management team, which is also tasked with periodically reviewing the policy and its objectives to ensure applicability and adherence to best practice. Responsibility for overseeing this policy and ensuring it is upheld lies with the General Manager of Bullring, Tim Walley, who gives full support to its implementation.
