Community at Bullring

We’re proud to support the people, groups and organisations doing brilliant things across Birmingham. Whether you're looking to run a community event or explore partnership opportunities, here’s everything you need to know.

Using space at Bullring

If you’re a local community group, CIC or non-profit operating near the centre and would like to use mall, unit or outdoor space for an event or activity, please get in touch with us at:

community@bullring.co.uk

We receive a high number of requests, and while we’d love to support everyone, we can only say yes to a few. When we can help, we look for activity that’s engaging, interactive and adds something meaningful to the visitor experience.

We prioritise requests where:

There’s a clear community need

The activity is more than just a static collection or sign-up

It creates a reason for people to stop, take part and connect

Please note:

We’re currently unable to accept any further requests for mall, unit or outdoor space until January 2026 due to existing commitments.

We’re also unable to donate gift cards for raffles, prize draws or fundraisers.

Our community bursary scheme

The Hammerson Charity Partner Bursary Scheme supports charities undertaking vital work within their local community. Each year, local charities are invited to apply for a bursary, with one or two organisations selected following a review, shortlisting, and voting process. Funding awarded will be either £5,000 to one charity or £2,500 each to two charities.

Applicants must be registered charities with a valid charity registration number and demonstrate a clear presence within the community local to the Destination, delivering tangible impact on the lives of people in the area. In addition to funding, Destination colleagues are committed to providing holistic support to bursary partners. Successful charities will be expected to maintain a regular presence at the Destination through activities such as fundraising or awareness initiatives, offering work experience, employment, or careers education opportunities for beneficiaries, or collaborating on community events. Where possible, charities should provide at least one volunteering opportunity for Destination colleagues, support Hammerson’s annual Giving Back Day, and submit an end-of-year report outlining how the bursary funding was spent, including outcomes and impact.

Charities wishing to apply should complete the application form below and return it by 13 March. Applicants will be notified of the outcome by 31 March. Please note that due to the high volume of applications received, we may not always be able to provide individual feedback to unsuccessful charities.  Please send your application interest to destinationhosts@bullring.co.uk.

Our current partners for 2025–2026 are:

  1. Birmingham Mind – supporting mental health across the city
  2. Birmingham Hospice – providing vital end-of-life care and support

Together, these organisations are making a real difference in Birmingham – and we’re proud to play a part in supporting their work.
